"Broad low pressure is likely to form over the Caribbean in a few days and a tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend." the National Hurricane Center said in a statement on Monday, Oct. 28.

Water temperatures remain warm in the area where development is expected, which will further boost chances of formation.

"I know there will be showers and thunderstorms in this zone this week," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said. "The question is the wind shear. If there is low wind shear, which we expect, I think we will be getting a tropical depression or storm to form."

The hurricane season runs through Saturday, Nov. 30.

Patty and Rafael are next on the list of storm names.
